Memorial Day Carwash
Our Pack is organizing Carwash Fundraiser. Come and support Scouting here at St. Matthias by having your car washed on by scouts on Saturday June 8th, from 10am - 3pm. Suggested donation is $10 for cars, $15 for SUV/minivans. Please help us spread the word. Thank you.
2024 Total Solar Eclipse
Guess where the cubscouts of Pack 195 will be on April 8th, from around 3pm? You've got it, we will be 😎 watching a rare natural phenomenon right in our backyard. Although the Sun gets all the credit, it's the little rascal Moon that does all the work there😁. It will not be a total eclipse in our area, only about 85%, but we are sure it will be totally cool to be part of it. Scouts will be able to earn a special edition 2024 Total Eclipse emblem (patch), by completing a few simple requirements. Come back for more details as it gets closer to day D. In the meantime, you can learn more about it, by heading over to the NASA page. Feel free to share our event flier with your friends.
2024 Pinewood Derby
On this rainy day of Saturday March 23rd, 2024, Pack 195 hosted another Pinewood Derby race at St. Matthias School cafeteria. This PD saw one of the largest participation rates over the past few years, especially in the Sibling group. This year we introduced a Leader race, with a great showing there. And to top it all off, new this year, we added a Fun Race (top 2 of the Pack, Sibling, and Leader race). The event was also livestreamed and is available to watch online https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATS3EKYk520. A huge thanks to all the participants, as well as their parents, leaders and volunteers. And a special thanks to Mr. Migliorisi for being an event MC.
The official results are available here. Last year's PD winner Luke M. presented this year's 2024 Pack 195 Overall PD Champion Noah L with the trophy. Congrats Noah!!!
Maple Sugaring at MASR
On Saturday March 9th, 2024 the scouts of Pack 195 visited Camp Wheeler at Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation, and participated in Maple Sugaring class, where we learned about process of making yummy maple syrup, right in our backyard. As we learned, the maple sap only runs for a few days a year, so it's critical to tap it at the best time, for the good yield (could be late Jan to mid-late Feb in our area). And of course, a sweet reward at the end, pancakes with fresh maple syrup (from 2024 batch).
Franklin PD visit
On January 22nd, 2024 the Pack visited our local Police Department. Ofc. Matthew Russo gave us a tour of the department. It was great to see some of the officers who look after our community day and night. The cubscouts toured various departments, and got an inside view of the police curiser as well as the Harley police motorbike. THANK YOU FRANKLIN PD!!!
